Review - Fast Five

This is the fifth installment of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise. The "Fast Five" opens with Brian and Mia busting her brother Dom out of custody and fleeing to Rio de Janeiro. They get backed into a corner in Brazil with authorities closing in. The authorities are lead by a new character Hobbs played by "The Rock" who is a hard nosed federal agent hell bent on capturing them by whatever means necessary. So they gather a team of elite racers to pull one last job in order to secure their freedom.

There is a few things that set this movie apart from it's predecessors: 1. There is far less meaningless car racing 2. We get a big heist 3. It brings all the characters together in one film, and most importantly it pits Vin Diesel and Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson against each other in a full out brawl. Plus who doesn't love to see criminals succeed and get a happy ending. I went into this movie with low expectations but came out pleasantly surprised.

Movie Mouse Approved
I am a fan of the "Fast and the Furious", but did we really need four more? Probably not, however "Fast Five" is definitely the best of the sequels. It showed strong opening numbers at the box office, and has helped to kick start the summer blockbuster season.
